Check Australian Addresses Before You Mail Them
Type in one Australian address or open a Shopify or Klaviyo customer export. The checker runs the address rules TouchDrop applies before it prints a postcard. It flags missing streets, suburbs and states, postcodes that are not four digits or that belong to another state, parcel lockers, and street numbers a spreadsheet turned into dates. It fixes what it can without guessing, such as the dropped leading zero on a Northern Territory postcode. Your file stays in your browser.

A Shopify customer export, a Klaviyo profile export, or any CSV with address columns. Up to 50,000 rows. The file stays on your device.
We matched these columns. Change any that look wrong.
A pass means the address has every part a postcard needs. It does not prove the address exists or that your customer still lives there.
Checks the tool runs
- A street address, a suburb and a state are all present.
- The postcode has four digits and sits in the state you gave.
- The street line is not a parcel locker or parcel collection point.
- The street number has not been turned into a date by a spreadsheet.
- The country, if present, is Australia.
- The suburb is not an obvious test value such as TEST or N/A.
Fixes it applies
- Restores a postcode’s dropped leading zero when the result is a real Northern Territory or ACT postcode.
- Fills in a missing state from the postcode.
- Writes state names as abbreviations, so Queensland becomes QLD.
- Combines a unit on the second line with the street, so “Unit 5” and “27 Aurora Place” become 5/27 Aurora Place.
- Removes a suburb, state or postcode pasted onto the street line, and writes the suburb in capitals.
Limits
The checker does not look addresses up in Australia Post’s Postal Address File (PAF), and it is not AMAS-certified software. It cannot tell you whether a street or house number exists, whether a suburb sits inside the postcode, or whether your customer still lives there. A pass means the address has the shape a postcard needs and nothing TouchDrop knows to be undeliverable.
How this differs from Australia Post address validation
Australia Post keeps the national list of addresses it delivers to, the Postal Address File, and certifies matching software under its Address Matching Approval System (AMAS). Certified software corrects an address to the PAF format and attaches its Delivery Point Identifier, which barcoded bulk mail needs. If you need that level of matching, use AMAS-certified software or an address service built on it. To check one suburb and postcode by hand, use Australia Post’s postcode search. This checker answers a narrower question: will this row pass the checks TouchDrop runs before it prints a card? Read more about address and postcode validation in Australia.
Your file stays in your browser
The checker reads your CSV inside this browser tab. It sends no addresses to TouchDrop or anyone else, and it stores nothing. Close the tab and the data is gone.
Frequently asked questions
Is this Australia Post's address validation?
No. Australia Post certifies address-matching software under AMAS against its Postal Address File. This checker runs TouchDrop's own format rules and does not look addresses up in the PAF. Use AMAS-certified software when you need a matched address and its Delivery Point Identifier.
Does my customer file get uploaded?
No. The checker reads the file inside your browser tab. TouchDrop receives no addresses and stores nothing.
Which files can I check?
Any CSV with address columns. The checker recognises the column names in a Shopify customer export and a Klaviyo profile export, and you can pick the columns by hand for any other file.
Why does it reject parcel lockers?
Parcel lockers and parcel collect points take parcels, not addressed postcards, so TouchDrop removes them before print.
Why did my postcode lose its leading zero?
Spreadsheets store postcodes as numbers and drop the zero, so 0810 in Darwin becomes 810. The checker puts the zero back when the four-digit result is a real Northern Territory or ACT postcode.
What does “postcode belongs to a different state” mean?
Each Australian postcode range sits in one state, so “Sydney NSW 3000” fails: 3000 is a Victorian postcode. The checker compares the postcode with the state only. It does not compare the suburb name with the postcode.
Does a pass mean the card will arrive?
A pass means the address has every part a postcard needs and nothing TouchDrop knows to be undeliverable. It cannot confirm that the street exists or that your customer still lives there.
Can it check New Zealand or UK addresses?
It checks Australian addresses only.
