Check your letter size first
- Small: up to 240 × 130mm, 5mm thick and 250g.
- Large: a rectangular letter outside the small-letter limits, up to 360 × 260mm, 20mm thick and 500g.
- Measure and weigh the complete addressed item. Contents must be flexible. For rigid contents, oversized items or very small envelopes, check Australia Post's sending guidelines.
This calculator excludes parcels, international postage, prepaid envelopes, concession and seasonal stamps, Registered Post, tracking, Express Post and negotiated business rates.
Planning a business mailing?
The cheapest postage product depends on eligibility as well as quantity. For a marketing campaign, also allow for print, preparation and the time needed to get the mailing ready.
How much does it cost to post a letter in Australia?
From 1 September 2026, ordinary Regular postage is A$1.85 for a small letter up to 250g. Large letters cost A$3.70 up to 125g, A$5.55 over 125g up to 250g, and A$9.00 over 250g up to 500g. A Priority label adds A$1.30 to each letter. Size and thickness limits also apply.
Does sending more letters automatically reduce the price?
No. This calculator uses ordinary stamped letter rates. At 300 or more letters, you may qualify for a business bulk-mail service, but barcoding, sorting, format and lodgement conditions also apply. The calculator does not assume a bulk discount.
Does the postage estimate include printing or envelopes?
No. The Australia Post estimate covers ordinary postage for your own envelope or card. It excludes printing, envelopes, preparation, tracking and other extras. TouchDrop's postcard comparison includes printing and postage, with the monthly platform fee shown separately and included in the first-month total.
Which TouchDrop prices does the comparison use?
Standard Australian website plans, in AUD including GST, for one campaign plus one full monthly subscription. It assumes no monthly postcard allowance has already been used and excludes discounts. The quantity is the number of eligible recipients you actually mail. Shopify-app billing and triggered automations are separate.
