PostGrid Review for Australian Senders

PostGrid is a print-and-mail API: developers send letters, postcards and cheques through it, and its partner network prints and delivers them. This review looks at what it offers a business mailing Australians, written by TouchDrop, which competes with it for Australian marketing mail.

Last updated: 26 September 2026. Checked against PostGrid's Australian pricing page, its Australian features page and its Shopify app listing.

PostGrid review for Australian senders: an API scorecard clipboard beside a map of Australia with postcard routes to local letterboxes

Our verdict: PostGrid lists a local Australian delivery network and publishes an Australian rate card, which makes it a sound pick for a developer team sending statements, notices or custom mail to Australians. For a Shopify marketing team with no developer, the free tier is thin and the Klaviyo and HubSpot integrations sit on the quoted Enterprise plan.

What PostGrid charges to mail Australians

From the Australia table on PostGrid's pricing page, Starter tier, USD, printing and postage included. Enterprise rates are quoted on request.

PieceDelivery (PostGrid's estimate)Starter price
A5 postcard, standard class3-6 business daysUS$2.35
A6 postcard, First Class Priority2-4 business daysUS$2.68
A5 postcard, First Class Priority2-4 business daysUS$2.86
6x11 postcard, standard class3-6 business daysUS$2.62
6x11 postcard, First Class Priority2-4 business daysUS$3.12
Colour letter, standard class3-6 business daysUS$1.99

PostGrid bills these rates in US dollars, so what an Australian business pays per card moves with the exchange rate on every send.

What stands out

  1. Local delivery. PostGrid says each order goes to the vendor nearest its destination, which avoids the international transit that US-based mail APIs add for Australian recipients.
  2. Australian address data. Its verification API is AMAS certified, the Australia Post standard for address-matching software, and it parses badly formatted addresses before matching.
  3. More than postcards. Letters and cheques sit alongside postcards, with registered mail, certified mail and return envelopes on Enterprise, which suits finance and operations teams as well as marketers.

What you still build yourself

  1. The trigger: a Shopify event, a Klaviyo flow step or a Zapier recipe that calls the API when a customer lapses or abandons a cart.
  2. The offer: a discount code per recipient, generated in Shopify and passed into each piece.
  3. The measurement: matching orders back to delivered pieces, and a control group if you want to know what the mail added.
  4. The hygiene: suppression windows and frequency caps so the same customer is not mailed every week.

TouchDrop ships those four pieces as a product for Australian Shopify brands: pre-built triggers, a unique Shopify discount code and QR per card, a 60-day attribution window, a 45-day suppression cooldown and a cap of three pieces per customer in any rolling 90 days. It sends marketing postcards only, so PostGrid remains the better tool for cheques, statements and letters.

Frequently asked questions

Is PostGrid good for sending mail in Australia?

For a developer-led team, yes. PostGrid lists Australia as one of its local delivery networks, publishes an Australian rate card (in USD) and offers an AMAS-certified Australian address-verification API. What it does not provide is a marketing layer: triggers, offers and attribution are yours to build.

How much does PostGrid cost in Australia?

On its free Starter tier, PostGrid's Australian rates run from US$2.35 for an A5 standard-class postcard (3-6 business days) to US$3.12 for a 6x11 First Class Priority postcard (2-4 business days), printing and postage included. Starter covers up to 500 mailings a month; Enterprise rates are quoted. Checked 26 September 2026.

Does PostGrid integrate with Klaviyo and Shopify?

Its Australian pricing page lists the Klaviyo, HubSpot and Salesforce integrations under Enterprise; Starter includes Zapier and Stripe. On Shopify, PostGrid's app is a free checkout address checker using USPS and Canada Post standards, so Shopify-triggered mail goes through the API or Zapier.

What is the alternative if we do not have a developer?

A product with the flows built in. TouchDrop runs winback, abandoned-cart and post-purchase postcards from Shopify, Klaviyo or Omnisend, prints and lodges them inside Australia, and bills in AUD with GST. Rates are at touchdrop.com.au/guide/pricing.
